Haven't written in forever, as usual. I've been trying to get a job with all of my power, but it's been futile. There is no one hiring. I've been to almost every store in the mall, called a million and one newspaper ads, and have asked around. I'm going to a temp agency tomorrow. I just got some help from the girl downstairs with making up a resume, so that's all done now. I think the economy is just not so hot at the moment, and jobs are really tight. I'll find something for the last two months of vacation, I'm sure.
I went to orientation on Sunday-Tuesday, and it was an experience. Not truly a good one because I didn't enjoy it at all, but it wasn't as horrible as I expected. I think my college will be alright, but the people there just really rubbed me the wrong way. I only met one person that I truly liked and felt like I had the potential to click with. I am praying to God that my roommate will be kind. I am going to be rooming with someone who is in the same program as me, which is the Resident Academics Program, or RAP. This means that 3 of your classes will meet in your dorm and you will take those classes with the same people. You will also live on the same floor as the people in this program. It's pretty neat. I pre-registered for all of my classes, which include English (College Writing), Lingustics, International Short Stories (Honors), Lively Arts, and Portuguese. So, I think I can hack it. My dorm area is one of the nicest of five on the campus, so that's good. When I was choosing my housing I felt like I should be in Harry Potter and put on the sorting hat. Every residential area has its own sort of personality, feeling, and type of people. I lucked out by getting into my first choice. My roommate for the orientation sucked. Her name was Paige and she was from New Jersey. She was so short, ugly, and un-friendly. She didn't want to hang out/talk with me, despite my efforts. I don't know, maybe it's me. Or maybe it's the New Jersey air. Either way, she was a jerk.
I have to find time to go out and get a Brazilian flag or bandana or something. The World Cup game is on Sunday morning, and I'm going to watch it over Carla's house. We're going to go out to Vision on Saturday night, come home, and then watch the game early in the morning. It's such an exciting thing! I have to find something to wear, but I'm getting my prom sandals dyed black and picking them up today, so at least I have some shoes.
Other than that, things have been slow. I had my graduation party, and only 3 of my friends came. I guess that says a lot about me. A lot of them didn't even call to tell me that they weren't coming. Well, if that's the way that they want to have it, then fine. I can't do anything to make them change their mind. The party was still fun with the people who were there, though, and I always had my family. I did have a good time. There was kareoke out in the lounge of the restauraunt, and everyone wanted me to join in, but I said NOOO WAY. I got a lot of money, some really nice and thoughtful gifts, and also a Mini Disc player from Min. Isn't that so COOL?!
Well, I have to go pick up my sandals right about now...
Ciao!
