something i needed to hear
2001-02-26 @ 9:13 p.m.

Today was terrific. I don't think it could really get much better. I was really groggy this morning, and I had to go back to school, but at least the day was good. In English, Ms. Lee passed back the tests that we took before vacation. She was talking about how bad all of the grades were, and that she put them in order of the best grade to the worst. I was getting all nervous here, because that is a pretty mean thing to do, and makes people feel ashamed if their paper is the last one handed back. Well, my paper was the first one. I got a 98. Chris's paper was the second one, which was a 97. I can't even believe that I did well on that test. In history, we had an easy day, and in Spanish, I scored a 100 on my quiz. In Psychology, I thought that I had totally messed up everything on the last test, and I got a 94 with praises written on my paper on what a good job I had done. This was just my day! Then in gym we started a new sport: soccer! That is my favorite sport to play, so I got lucky again. In math we did this really easy section today, and then in physics, I presented my project with Kathleen without a flaw. Everyone was giving me compliments on how great the project looked and how well I presented it and everything. That was what I really needed to hear today.

I started a new book in English, Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway. It's really good so far. It would be even better if I didn't have to take notes on every damn chapter. I swear, I hate reading books when I am forced to write down stuff. It's easier to just read the book and recall the fact later. But anyways...

When I came home after teaching Water Quality at my sister's school for their Science Olympiad competition, I did all of my homework. It took me a while to do it, but I didn't really mind it. I flew through my math, which usually takes me forever. I read, did my psychology sheet, and also did my spanish work. I went down to get the mail, and what to my wondering eyes should appear but...a package for me!! Ambrosiana had sent me a copy of the Sims and the Living Large expansion pack, so now I can play the game too! YaaaaaaaY! There was also a nice note, which made me laugh out loud as I read it. What else could anyone ask for to have a nice day?

I will not hope for nicer days, because I will just take them as they come. There is only one thing that would make this day complete, but I'm afraid that if I say it, or even so much as think it, it might blow away, just like a fall leaf. It's too delicate to think about. I have two books to choose from for my history project. I hope neither of them are all too boring.

Ciao, bella.
