something more beautiful

I watched two okay movies today, and I am pretty happy. I thought that this whole week was going to be boring, like the past week, but I hope things will get better. I was begging my parents to do something today, just for fun, and my sister wanted to go mini golfing. I thought it was a good idea, but by the time we finally got out of the house, it was raining pretty good, and it was much too wet to go mini-golfing. My sister was really depressed, as she really wanted to go, but there's not much you can do about the elements.

So instead, we decided to go to the movies. We drove home for a minute to get the newspaper and check on what movies were up, and what times they were at. My mom picked out a movie called The Color of Paradise. When I asked her what it was about, she didn't know, but she said it got good reviews. I am always one to take a chance, so I said okay. My dad was kind of cautious, knowing that my mom always picks awful movies. When we got to the theatre, we had a while to wait for the movie to start. When it came on, I was anticipating as to what it would be about. I was a little surprised when I saw some sort of Arabic writing on the screen. I hadn't known that it was subtitled. I just love subtitled movies, because I love listening to the other language that the movie was made in, and then having English words to read at the bottom of the screen. I have only seen a few subtitled movies, but I always find them to be intriguing for some reason. I usually watch them on the International Channel if they are ever on. My father and sister were less than thrilled, but I was happy. The story was very sad though, it was about a blind boy whose father thought of him as a burden, and sent him off to live with a blind carpenter. It is kind of one of those movies you have to see to really get it, but it was good. Not spectacular, but a nice movie to see on a rainy day. I didn't expect it to be so depressing in parts either, but that's okay. There is another movie out now that is subtitled, I think that it's called East and West. I want to go see that too. I think it was originally in French.

Once I got home, my mom didn't really feel like cooking supper, so she went out and picked something up. She came home with two more movies. I just finished watching My Dog Skip. It was rather cute for one of those family movies. Again, my dad didn't really like it because he wanted to see one of those action and adventure movies. He calls any other movies besides that 'girls films'. Well, what can we expect when we force him to watch these movies anyway? I know he loves them, he just doesn't want to say it.

I'm surprised I actually agreed to go to the movies with my family. We haven't been to the movies together since I can remember. Usually I would refrain from such family activities, especially in a place where we could potentially be seen together. j/k Well, I had a good day. Tomorrow's going to be lonely.

Ciao.
